Topic: [WIP]HORDE COMBAT - Free open resource 3D fighting fantasy game

Today, we are proud to announce the project HORDE COMBAT, a free open resource 3D fighting fantasy game. It is the war between five races in Myth-earth:

- Human: Wizard, Assassin, Barbarian...
- Ogre: Orgk, Troll, Goblin...
- Reptile: Dragon, Dinosaur, Lizardman...
- Dwarf: Halfling, Gnome, Midget...
- Elf: High Elf, Wild Elf, True Elf...

This game is developed with Unity 3D and UFE Fighting Engine. To make sure of the high quality of this game, I bought a lot of code and art from Unity Asset Store, and make sure they work well together. Don’t need to concern about concepting, modeling, texturing…; so we could focus on gameplay like animating, balancing…

At the moment, we have decided we will publish all our 3D animations in .blend file extension, using Rigify for adapting with Humanoid System of Unity 3D, or other game engine. It’s not just an free indie game, but also a content project for gamedev community. Developers, who want our complete source code, must purchase UFE and other Unity packages I used for this projects.

This dwarfan was modeled by Amarok3D. In this game, he uses a long axe, also could cast blizzard spells. His homeland has been buried in snow storms, so he has to find the way for saving his clan.

We are adding weapon trail effect, hit effect, sound effect ...
Many people complaint that the animations are slow, so I increased the animation speed up to 140%.

We are recreating smoother basic animations too (current animations are just for initial prototype)
For example, this is a simple jump kick animation we are working

The impact of jump kick animation will be created inside game engine with shake effect and force effect.

It's just a image of character in that pose, with 50 % alpha and a little blue color.
I generate them as particle move, 6 times in 1 second.

@dieson: It's just a fake trail effect. I captured this pose to a .png image with alpha channel and 50 % opacity. I createed a prefab from this image. Then I generated the prefab six times from frame 20 to 32 as particle effect, with 0.1 time duration.

I want to explain more about the game idea here:
- The fire breathing skill is anti-air move. It is quite slow and unblockable, so it could be used for defending or initiate another combo. For dodging, opponent must crouch, only Titan still get hit because of his large size. Although Dwarf and Halfling couldn't crouch, this move still wouldn't hit them (except they jump up). Centaur couldn't crouch too, but he is in normal height, so he will be hit easily (he has to dash back, so Orgk will have a chance to send a kick right at his face).
- The dash and stomp skills are unblockable too, so opponent must jump away to dodge these moves, opponent's height doesn't affect in this case.
- Orgk is strong at close range, for balancing, his far range moves and projectiles consume a lot gauge points.

The first combo is M L H <- H .I will upload more demo clips about the remain combos.
There are still some weird animation bugs, I will fix them soon.

The main purpose when I start this project, not just for entertainment, but also for education. In particular, it's a language learning system for hardcore gamers.
The are many language learning games, but most of them are for kid and girl. With true gamers, those simply games are so boring.

The game idea is very risky. But nothing is impossible. And I'm still studying for creating a good gameplay, to make sure it's fun. When the playable demo is out, I could discuss more about the way we implement it.

For example: We are developing a Kanji drawing system by mouse dragging (or finger swiping on mobile ). It's not a new idea, but still is a useful feature, because you do not have to type for learning Kanji and Hanzi.

I added Motion Blur Effect like Tekken 6, you will see it while dashing.
I will ignore all animation bugs temporarily, for focusing more on AI development of the first playable demo.

I also started to create Titan's actions, so in the playable demo, I could demonstrate the gameplay of 3 different sizes (Dwarf, Orc, Titan)
