Topic: Use Cases Beyond Side to Side Fighter

How possible is it to use parts of this system (primarily the combat) to create a game that is not a side to side fighter, but instead something a little bit more open. My goal is a top down view that uses hand to hand combat, but also has the ability to pick up and use weapons in the arena. Hyper Jam is a great comparison to what I am intending on creating so here is a link to gameplay of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us12o60 … l=iMAVERIQ

Without major work, UFE currently supports only 3D (Ie Tekken), or 2d/2.5d (such as street fighter). However, you can make your own camera script if you prefer.

Are you able to quantify what would be major work? Like are we talking months of needing extensive knowledge to do this?

Depends how much you want to change. But if you don’t want it to play like street fighter or tekken, (even on a different camera angle). Better just to write your own tools.

Depends how much you change. It would be pretty short if all you want to change is the camera (though you might be able to do a top-down camera without editing script), and editing the movement system, I doubt it will take that long.

Re: Use Cases Beyond Side to Side Fighter

Good news:
There is a new gameplay mode available on UFE 2.5.0 (Standard or above). It allows for a gameplay style similar to what you showed.
The update is available right now on all versions.
The only limitation to UFE 2 atm is that it only supports up to 2 players. More players will be available on UFE 3.
